Garden & Gun Magazine referred to our fair village as a “Southern Dream Town.” In the March 2019 Issue of Our State Magazine, Oriental was described as, “once a quiet fishing village, this small town on the Neuse River has become one of the East Coast’s top sailing destinations.” We agree whole heartedly. Oriental sits on a seven-mile wide expanse of the Neuse River, just inland of the Pamlico Sound. The Neuse River boasts steady breezes and minimal commercial boating traffic making pristine sailing conditions. The laid-back coastal lifestyle features small town charm, stunning sunrises, tree-lined streets and a working waterfront that includes a variety of restaurants, shops and art coops. We also have an affinity for our four-legged furry friends and celebrate them often with the Parade of Dogs, the Blessing of the Dog and the Dog of the month. And where boats outnumber residents 3-to-1.
